At some point in my journey in this hobby I found myself using 16-Gauge stranded solid copper Speaker wire for my power distribution.
I am using MTH terminal blocks and the MTH Z4000 Transformer.
I forget if someone shared this with me or I read about it or made the discovery on my own.
From my point of view PRO's:
Wire is cheap and easy to get
Copper good
Wire is 1 pair, with each wire is marked for easy identification of hot vs. neutral
Getting to the point, I was at my favorite train shop a week or so ago ( Train Depot in Mt. Airy MD) I was talking with the owner and he seemed shocked that I was using speaker wire.
He said I should be using track wire, that he happened to sell.
The POINT, Is there any reason I should not be using 16-Gauge speaker wire? Is there a problem here or was I being sold something I did not need?
I have been using the speaker wire for over 2 years now and I have never had an issue.
