I have almost completed my subway track siding and have just a track section that has a gap about 1-1/4" between the two track sections in order to complete the track siding. I can't change my track setup to eliminate this gap, so I will need to have a very short piece to finish everything. I saw that they make a 1-3/8" track piece that might work, but the 1-1/4" would be ideal. Do they make a 1-1/4" piece? Has anyone cut Fastrack to make their own custom size or is this not possible. If you did cut your own track how did you do it and what problems did you run into. Thanks for your help.

For the 1/8" it's not worth the trouble. The FT should "give" enough to make the 1 3/8" section fit fine and the trains should not notice the difference even though it may not be what I like to call "geometrically pure".
Is the track already partially screwed down?

Thanks Dave, I will purchase that 1-3/8" piece and see how that works out.
The track is not screwed down so I can play around with it while I am working on it and trying to make things work. I am still curious as to whether it is possible to cut Fastrack though to make custom sized sections.
Rod Stewart has a thread on how to cut FT. Do a search on cutting fastrack, it was posted 4/12/11. Very good article. If I knew how, I would past the short cut.

No Fastrack 1-1/4.
Sometimes I try to accommodate by replacing 5" with 4.5", giving a 1/2 inch to add to the 1-1/4 to work with a 1-3/4. You may have to replace a 10" with a 5 and a 4.5.
It all depends on your track arrangement of course, if this is possible.
I have cut and trimmed a number of Fastrack sections, but not one a small as you are considering. It should work OK if carefull.

Great info guys. Thanks for your help.
This is a thread on fastrack that shows how to make fitters and a chart for what track pieces you need to make up almost any length straight.
