I have the Lionel ten wheeler 6-82271 which was in the 2014 catalog. There was a Ten Wheeler produced somewhere if I'm correct between 2005 - 2010, does anyone know the Lionel item number.
Thanks very much, Alex

This was in the Lionel Signature Edition Volume One 2010 Catalog. This was the one where the pipette was packed wrong and marred the engine paint and Lionel had to replace the shell. It happened to me. I really like this engine pulling some log cars.
If you go to the Lionel Search and then click on "Archives" you'll see that 8 of them pop up.
A beautiful model. The one you are asking about is 6-11150 from the 2008 Lionel Signature Volume 1 Catalog. Mine is a Legacy version from 2014.

There were a number of road names. This is mine, the 6-11156. I upgraded it to a Super-Chuffer as the chuff handling on the first Legacy models was pretty poor, and they had no smoke at idle. If you stopped and forgot to turn off smoke, it cooked the smoke unit.

I have this one that now looks like this. Great runner, great sounds, great smoke.
Get past the new Hudson the ten wheeler is there three quarters of the way through

I just purchased my one and only ten wheeler from a friend, and I love it.
Mine is the Lionel TMCC NY Central Lines (B&A Div.) 4-6-0 steamer, which I believe was in the 2002 catalogue. What is critical for me is that it runs on 031 curves, unlike the more recent Legacy model that required 054 curves.
It has great smoke, sounds and detail, and runs and pulls beautifully. Arnold
Arnold,
The Legacy Ten Wheelers also run on O31 curves. Please see the 2010 Signature Catalog.

All of the ten wheelers are essentially the same save the electronics. The TMCC engines can be lashed up with the Legacy versions if the Legacy engines are run in TMCC mode.

My 2008 to-wheeler has no problem with O36 curves, and they say it's good for O31.

My good friend Melgar sent me an email saying that his Lionel Legacy New Haven 10 wheeler in the 2014 catalogue needs 054 minimum radius curves.
I'm guessing that's likely to be a misprint. I can't think of any reason this small locomotive would suddenly need that large a curve.
The Lionel web page for the Legacy 6-82272 New Haven Ten Wheeler says O-42 with O-54 recommended. The box says O-31. Lionel should be able to get this correct.
MELGAR
Since the mechanical part of this locomotive is identical to the earlier Legacy models, and they do O31, I can't imagine this one won't do it.
I have one of the newest versions and it does O36 all day long just fine. As for the min curve on the site and catalog, I think Lionel is marking all scale steamers at O54 anymore, even if it doesn't need it to try to get people to get the LC locos for tighter curves. I've got all kinds of conspiracy theories on Lionel and small scale steamers with Legacy, but I'll keep them to myself for now. Needless to say, I love my Ten Wheeler and have no regrets buying it.
