Barry,

could he not upgrade to a PS32 board and load a Big Boy PS3 sound file?  We did that with my Allegheny.  I have not researched the available sound files yet for the Big Boy with quillable whistle but I thought there was one.

That said, I would go to your LHS and ask them to demo the quillable whistle for you on a PS3 engine.  Mine allows thumb wheel control of the whistle but doesn't add much more than holding the whistle button down. I have not tried it on PS3 factory engines, but expected a little more variability to the whistle tone and maybe some smoke effects too.

He said a PS2 engine, not PS3.

If he changed it to a PS3 engine, he could upload a new Chain File and Sound File with a Playable whistle. However, he'd have to use some other engine's files, since there are no sound or chain files with a playable whistle for a RK Big Boy.

That's an awful lot of money to put a playable whistle into an engine that could have inaccurate scale speed when all was said and done.
