Railking engine batteries?

depending on how  old the batteries are Yes they can leak and destroy the 8.4 volt battery  connector and possible leak and corrode the boards. should be taken apart and check over and totally check batteries prior to use, charge and test batteries if white batteries replace before powering up!

It is rare that they leak like Alkaline.  I may have seen one or two.  They can gas out at the terminal and cause the battery wire to deteriorate.  I have never seen a board damaged.

As far as age, the 8.4V batteries had a life of about 4 to 5 years after initial use.  So I would recommend installing a new battery/bcr before use.  G

That is what I thought to toss those out and just buy the BCR's. That is the  best option. Need to communicate to this guy on how to proceed when he ever puts those engines back in use.

I still get PS-1 and PS-2 engines for service with original white batteries installed.  I have even had a few with enough of a surface charge to get it out of neutral in conventional.  G

Probably half the PS/1 stuff I see, which I suspect isn't nearly as many as George, still have the white battery.
