Can this just be pulled up inside the shell? I don't have the B-unit; maybe it would have a socket? This is the early Proto-1 engine. Ideas ??

(Later: since no one responded, I removed the shell - this is an earliest-gen QSI Proto-1, 2-circuit-board setup. I have another PS1 F3, identical w/ same road # on the shell - it has a 2-bd. setup also but looks quite different and has no umbilical. I just tucked the cord inside, installed a BCR and it works fine.)

Thanks for the responses. I AM familiar w/ umbilicals/tethers for steamers and K-Line diesels -- as well as other (early) Premier MTH diesels - just hadn't seen one on a RK diesel, certainly NOT on my own SF F3 RK diesel ABA set w/ same cab #s. For my grandson's birthday, I bought the complete RK set on eBay w/ cars, track & xmfr but no unpowered A or B units. I did find a separate-sale dummy-A to go along with this, but it doesn't have a tether socket. Neither does my own dummy-A. Both dummy A's already have interior lights installed. Maybe the old Dummy-A with a tether socket (which I DO NOT HAVE) had its light switched on & off based on the direction the ABA lashup was headed down the track?
