Yep, pretty unique looking.  The video does a good job of showing the lighting effects.

All I need is to dig up part of the backyard and put in an addition to the basement.  These guys are killing me with all these cool buildings that I no longer have room for.  I already have seven on the table layout.

If only they had used more of a light blue glow associated with the prototype I would be all over it. Kind of a disco ball effect instead.

GHEEEZZZZ....this is meant to be whimsical....think of some of the similar Lionel accessories!  Next someone will wonder why they didn't use a scale cooling tower.....

I am actually still thinking about it as long as I can hack a different hue to the light. The smoke units in the cooling towers sounds like a good bash too.

Alan,    Doug is pursuing a more prototypical whim.   J

ROGERPETE: I just counted the rivets on the cooling tower...  <~ I actually laughed out loud when I seen this!

I am amused when the rivet counters, and, nitpickers converge on a Menards thread, some have already made an appearance, I see! I used to be in HO and loved the detail ... counted rivet's, too! I don't really care about rivet counting anymore. I just want to have fun running trains, operating some cool accessories, and, having some cool looking buildings to even it all out. Menards fills the need in my world!

Although, this really isn't one that I'd probably purchase, I really like some of the ideas that have been suggested on adding things. I like the idea of a vaporizer or the smoke unit in the tower ... skeletons walking around the plant ... Homer and other Simpson characters at the plant! All good ideas to personalize this Menards building to fit ones layout or twisted personality! lol

I was hoping it was going to be a Sub Station, to go with the American Power & Light, but, I can most likely kitbash something together for that. Anyway, good job, Mark and Menards on another very popular release, it seems!

Rusty

Does it come with a bottle of Neolube?

A Steppenwolf figure   (see the Justice League movie?)

I worry the owners may turn green as we envy them

Just keep the Menard's Pepsi plant well away from it

It's size kinda reminds me of a Mr. Fusion

Somewhere here there is a water scale and Clifford the dog joke too

Don't forget your glow in the dark bobbers for night fishing at the cooling ponds nearby

I cant wait to react to what gets caught

Nice building that adds some sizzle in terms of lighting and pizzazz.  With the multiple buildings and now multiple transformer plugs, what size transformer plug do you need to buy for this new building?  Menards offers several different ones and their web site does not specify.

(As a side note, I still would like to see a direct connection to a 14-16 volt Lionel or equivalent transformer.  Woodland Scenics even has a 16 vac wiring method for their new plug n play buildings -- you just cut the wire and feed it -- which a lot of people are not aware of, I don't think.  That appeals to me greatly.  I'm stubborn and don't want to embrace extended outlet strips in my train room -- and am concerned about that as a fire hazard.)

According to another thread, WS plug & play system is either not as foolproof, or not as reliable as you may perceive. There was mention of a "lack of info" or "easy assumption" that caused damage to some WS lights.(it appears from what I read, their multi plug power unit may have different voltage on each of the plugs, all the same size .

Making up or buying a voltage rectifier and regulator to use your transformer power is cheap and easy.

Menard's large supply would be a safe bet. The issue arises when you use one that's too small; lack of amps.

I can't believe nobody has broke out the three (?) power supplies and a group of the buildings to settle this. (I think today, thurs., Bob is going to unbox his. Maybe he will let us know which it prefers?)
