I would like my grandson to be able to shut down total layout with 1 switch. The outlet is under the table out of sight feeding a good 6 out let power switch. This would enable him to shut off all transformers and accessories and lights. Is this possible.?

I bought this from Amazon - about $15 or so:
DEWENWILS Outdoor Remote Control Outlet Power Strip Weatherproof, Expandable Wireless Electrical Plug in Light Switch, 15 A, 7-Inch Extension Cord, 100 FT Range, ETL Listed
If you're good with working with house electrical, Shut off power at the breaker box to the outlet, test by plugging a lamp or meter into the outlet, take a 3 wire piece of Romex wire 14 gauge for 15 amp circuit, 12 gauge Romex wire for 20 amp circuit, mount a box accessible for the switch. Disconnect the black hot wire from the outlet, connect it to the black wire of that piece of Romex, run it to the switch box, use a single pole light switch, connect to one of the brass terminals, connect the white wire to the other brass terminal put a piece of black electrical tape on the white insulation to remind you its a switch powered wire, and green wire to green ground terminal, mount switch in box and put a switch cover plate on it, back at the outlet box connect the white wire to where you took the black wire off the outlet, again mark the white wire insulation with a piece of black tape to show its a switch powered outlet, connect your green ground wires together and to the outlet, mount the outlet and cover. Turn on power at breaker panel and try it out. If you're not good at house electrical, hire a professional electrician to do it for you.
One solution would be a wireless remote controlled module that just plugs into the outlet. Something like these 15Amp modules are very easy to use. Unlike many others available, these use 2 standard AAA batteries in the remote.
These can also be used as an emergency stop to disconnect all power from the layout if you keep one of the remotes in your shirt pocket. The bottom right button on the remote even turns off all plug-in modules simultaneously.
