All:
I'm looking for recommendations for an IR detector or Proximity sensor to use with an Arduino driven animation. The sensor, ideally buried in the track between the ties, would detect the presence of a car rolling over it. That would trigger the animation.
Any recommendations?

Agree with RickO - haven't used them in an Arduino application but I have used the Azatrax sensors in various configurations with relays to trip switches, etc. and like them a lot. They can be easily buried in the track and the company is great to work with.
