Setting up a new layout. When powering up my transformer, all is fine. I then start to hook up drops from my 14 AWG bus line to the tracks and turn the voltage up, I get the red flashing light on the GW-180 which then trips out. This happens no matter where I hook up a drop on my layout. I tried using terminal strips to keep things neat and organized to no avail. Finally, like I mentioned, I tried putting power to random terminal sections of the layout with the same flashing red results. I checked the layout for continuity between track sections and all seems well. I'm at a total loss and any help would be appreciated!

You have a short between the center rail and outside rails. Start by dividing the layout in half and disconnecting half the layout by separating the track. See if the problem follows one half, then divide that section in half and test again.
A close physical inspection of both sides of the track pieces is a good idea as well.
Remove the FasTrack coaxial terminal section with the little red indicator from the layout.
Hi John......followed your advice and found multiple issues. 2 tracks were missing center pins on one side, found 2 10" straights with no ground jumpers, along a couple of loose connections. I ended up pulling every track apart, inspected and reassembled the whole layout. It took all day but was well worth it. My Conrail switcher is running as we speak. I can't thank you enough for the help and it came just in time. My 3 granddaughters will be here tomorrow for the holidays and they'll be thrilled.
Glad you got it going, but none of the things you found would cause a short.

I'm guessing something was shorting a track and was removed/dislodged during the investigation. That's why I suggested the physical inspection.
