Anybody got this?
I'm remodeling some of the house (well, actually repainting) and the railing around the access to upstairs (the train room) is so wobbly I need to replace it, but it has to be removable.
I've Goggled it to death and found nothing of value.
I want the railing corner "newel" posts (3) to go from the floor to the ceiling, about 6'-6", with 36" balusters and a handrail in between. The railing is "L" shaped, one leg is 3'-6" and the other is 3'-0" long.
I'm thinking I need a permanent "L-shaped" floor plate and a "L-shaped" ceiling plate, so I can have something to attach the railing section to, the railing will also have plates on top and bottom to hold it all together and be able to slide in between the floor and ceiling plates.
I can picture this in my mind, but I can't determine what I want to use to secure it in place. I can use captive, pronged nuts like these:
I've seen some with holes in the flange for mounting screws. I could insert these on the underside of the floor/ceiling plates and drill holes for them in the top/bottom railing plates, but I was hoping for something more eye-appealing, maybe a couple of latches that could quickly be unlatched so the rail assembly could be moved out of the way.
Any ideas?
