I need to remove the bluish effect of the white leds. I read somewhere that if you paint the led with a clear yellow it will tone down the color to yellow glow. The type of led's I am using are not made in yellowglow. Can anyone out there help with some info?

Go to Walmart or a craft store and get some translucent stained glass paint. You can mix your own colors from those given in the package. The best effect IMO is light pink (mix red and white) to simulate an incandescent bulb. You can also use yellow for a golden effect.

What kind of LED's are you using? Perhaps you haven't turned over all the rocks in your search for warm white versions?

To describe the led's i'm working with, They are a small square base with a small solid tube 1/32" diamiter 1/16" long protruding out that can be inserted into a hole in the front of an O Scale marker lamp.

Evans Design sells them. I believe they are one of the forum sponsors. They are 1.8mm and they have them in warm white. I used them on a set of Alco PA-s. They are a bit too bright for my taste but the right color. I used white stained glass paint to tone the brightness down.
.8MM? That's pretty small! I use a short piece of fiber for stuff that small. Do you have a link to the ones you're using? I typically use 2mm LED's for markers.
John, that's 1.8 MM. Not much smaller than what you are already using.
Note that he's talking about .8mm, not 1.8mm.
1/32" = .8mm.
Refer to this thread. The color chart explains why orange is the theoretically correct color to shift the blue. Yellow may work fine for you - though it can appear green-ish (blue+yellow=green). If you're not looking directly at the LEDs and can reflect or filter the light, orange construction paper or transparent colored cellophane might be an alternative.
Evans does not sell this type of led. I purchased mine on e bay in a package of red yellow red and white. The white is the only problem. The led's came directly from China. I'm certain they could be produced in the warm white color, but for now they are not. I have never seen this type of led and the shape is perfect for model trains. Right now I will deal with what I have.
I have learned alot in a few hours from you fellows. I will experiment with the info and get back to you with my results.

Can you provide a link? I know of no LED package that has 0.8mm stalk on them, I'd like to get some of these as well!
