general topic,on rattle can paint,,,,i have a af o hudson and cast tender,that i stripped ,as someone had paint it with a broom,,,,i ordered train enamels,,,primer and crackle black,,,,,as the picture shows,,,no crackle,,,,just black shinny enamel,,,,,has anyone ever used this ,and if so,any thoughts why it isnt cracklin !!

I have not used that crackle paint but two others. You have to spray it thick then apply heat. I use a heat gun. A hair dryer might work but hold it close while moving it around .

Conditions where and when you applied the product can affect final finish. Also, were there any specific instructions to apply,….I’ve never used their crackle finish, but have used other brands. If applied too wet, it wouldn’t wrinkle up, too dry and it’s too wrinkly,……also I’ve found with any textured finish rattle can, you have to shake the can till your arm wants to give up,….

Also the ones I have used recommend painting bare metal, not primer. Its very durable. I painted my Norton triple clamps with black crackle 45 years and 50,000 miles ago and its still there with hardly any chips..
Spray an old can and apply heat to see how it works.
