The power cord is brittle and cracked so i need to replace it with a new one otherwise transformer is a+ grade

Any tricks or tips would help cant find much info online about coed replacement.

Take off the base , how does it proceed from there. If there is a online guide or illustrations that would help.   Whats a good replacement?

Look to see where the old cord is attached. The new one goes there. It will need to be soldered and some sort of a knot, or a wire tie to make sure it cannot be pulled from the case when in use.

You can make a new cord from a cheap extension cord, or cut a cord off a lamp/radio/mixer/curler/fan/hair drier that is being discarded, or buy a Lionel branded cord on eBay.

A cord from an old shaver has wire that is too small. Cords on wall warts are too small. Almost all other cords on devices that were popular before the computer revolution are fine.

It's easiest to buy an extension cord and cut off the female end.

Good morning “just having fun”, if you decide to buy only (1) Lionel reproduction power cord you’re going to pay quite a bit. I have repaired and reconditioned postwar transformers for many years but due to my age and a little bit of arthritis, my fingers are not cooperating the way they used to and I have really slowed down. I buy cords in bulk and I have a large inventory that I may never use so if you need one I will send you one for three dollars plus postage. If you’re interested let me know. You can contact me with my email in my profile.

Incidentally, your profile has no email address and you might want to consider adding one for the convenience of other forum members.  Have a great day, Jim
