While working as a Caterpillar engineer, during the 2009-2010 Time frame I was asked to be the lead analysis simulation engineer for the D10 and D11 dozers.

These are massive machines for which I have a great deal of admiration for.

As an engineer at Cat we were encouraged to become intimately familiar with the machines we were helping to design.

I was certified to operate the D10 and D11, along with other machines (being the largest dozer they make) I became acquainted with what their capabilities first hand.

The amount of power these machines have is simply imminence.

The model shown doesn't do this machine justice. There is another firm (which I'm not able to recall at this moment) that does a much better job of modeling the Cat lineup of machines.  The model shown has plastic simulated gears and track.

The other manufacturer used metal and has a lot more detail and understandably much more expensive.

Having been a Caterpillar engineer I can attest to the companies mindset is quality driven and with the utmost regard to pleasing and meeting their customers expectations.

You cannot find a better piece of machinery than a CAT!

I will try to find out what the other company was that made the better models and post their name here.

The brand you are thinking of is Norscot.  I have a nice collection of their 1/50 scale dozers.  Their recent production all come with individual link metal tracks.
