I am not sure what your question is but I have made a fair amount of changes to my plan requiring cutting special lengths of curved and straight rail using rigid as well as flex track. I always try to get the rail joints as close as possible. I have settled on cutting with a rotary tool to a length that is slightly long and then hand file to get a precise fit. I hope this helps.

In my opinion  Atlas 3 rail is the high rail equal to Micro Eng two rail for being stiff.  I had earlier been staggering Atlas two and three rail O at least 12" for each rail.  I had been  sliding out rail, prebending, dressing up the ends and reinserting the rail for several years now

I have not laid any Atlas 3rail since getting my new rail roller which should simplify the process considerably.  I do know that Atlas has used this rail bender with great success on their three rail flex.

With the flex track rail bender I no longer need to stager the curved rail joints.  Much quicker, simpler, smother curve IMO.

I have used this flex track bender from Norm's Model Supply www.choochoostuff.com

Norm's flex track bender has totally revamped my flex track installations,  Even curved  MTH Scale Traxx to about a 12"radius for JusTrains awhile ago.  Perfectly even with no kinking whatsoever.

Total time to set a perfect curve in any piece of flex track takes less than one minute.

Just finished installing about four cases of Atlas flex, whole new ball game.
