I recently purchased a RMT BEEP and it looks good and runs well, in one direction. I changed the switch to on for being able to run in both directions but nothing I do using the CW80 reversed the direction. I am not able to get a different power pack at this time either. I heard that adding an auto bulb across the terminals will work, is that true?

Try the bulb, it sure isn't going to hurt anything.
I'm inviting anyone with more info to jump in here, but I believe the problem may be that your CW80 never really gets to "off" – in other words, a small trickle of power is still "leaking" out to the engine. This prevents the electronic reversing unit from moving to the next step in the cycle.
I've also had this problem with the Atlas 80 watt transformers, and those small 4-4-2s that came in the Industrial Rail sets a few years ago.
Does lifting the Beep off the track (i.e. cut power) trigger the fwd-neutral-rev sequence? If that works, the CW80 is acting strange (no surprise to me) and not cutting voltage completely when the direction button is pressed. Wire in a NC (normally closed) pushbutton on one of the track leads to provide direction control.
Early CW80's have this issue. For a while Lionel embedded a light bulb in the Terminal Track Section. Hence adding the light bulb for those CW80's does the trick and allows the revising unit to function properly. If this doesn't work, then I agree something else is amiss.
BKA...your problem is the CW-80 power supply. The BEEP has a high quality circuit board that will 'read' even a low voltage power leak from the CW-80. Suggest adding a lighted accessory directly to track power and the problem should disappear.
You can double check the BEEP F-N-R by with power on, remove forward operating BEEP from track, replace back onto track with power still on and BEEP will cycle to N, then remove N operating BEEP from track, replace back onto track with power still on and BEEP will cycle to R.
Enjoy your BEEP. They are great locomotives.

Thank you for the suggestions, I will give them a try later today. I need to have everything ready for my "executive engineers" next visit (also known as grandkids).
I had the same problem with my Beeps and my really old CW80.
When I got a new Z-1000 transformer, the problem disappeared.

Thank you for all of your good suggestions, thank you Mannyrock for letting me know about your experience with the Z-1000. I would assume that a GW 180 could also solve the problem. I must also apologize for the gap in replying but I have been busy attending both my retirement party from work and my wife's retirement party from her work, so not more time to play with trains.
Now you both will have more time for trains and grandkids. Walter
