RMT is having hauge sale on their SuperSnap track.  I had posted that i was gonna get some as soon as it was on sale again so I put my money wheremy mouth was and got a bunch to replace my inner loop on my 4x8.  Also, decided to get the rest of that LIRR 0-27 passenger set to complete my Worlds Fair set. Will post Picwhence it arrives.

This is great track!

I used a big case of it this past weekend for a quick setup at at local train show for a day.

For a quick setup display the Super Snap track is great,  run lots of loops of it!

Goes together fast, stays together, good power conduct, has smooth transitions between each section and is not noisy or attracts dirt like Fastrak.

The huge box of Fastrak I have;  I no longer use it has too many problems exactly the opposite of all the above.

Here is a shot of the track for the display on the floor of the locomotive shops at the local CN Railway employee family days open house that I support with my display.

Gil,

I got an email yesterday from RMT about the sale.  Might want to email them or just put your name in the email box on the front page.  Also, check your "spam" or "junk" folder on your computer. Most email programs now are "smart" and may automatically put what it thinks is junk mail into your junk/spam folder.  I know that happens to me frequently.

Kj,

Thats great to hear.  I was on the fence between SuperSnap and Atlas track. I really wanted to support RMT but I hadn't touched SuperSnap while I had held Atlas. I read a long thread on this board about SuperSnap and everyone had nothing but good things to say, so I decided to go with it.

You will not be sorry because I find that track to be outstanding and I am in the process of changing out my Lionel O track to it. It looks so much better and everything runs great on it. I use track pins to connect it together. I have even changed all 18 of my Lionel 072 switches to the Snap 072 switches.

Walter, about whats the cost of the switches going to be? I hate to order a ton of track, only to find out the switches are going to be some rediculous price.

Question 2: is the aristo track compatable with tubular track w/o using the adpater peice? (I understand the electrical connection wont line up) , Agian, I have a ton of tubular switches, which I could use if there compatable

RW

Ryan Ward...0-31 and 0-72 switch prices will be shown on RMT website www.readymadetrains.com  when incoming container date is confirmed. Expected to arrive October. The switch pricing will be in line with RMT track prices so do not worry about this.

RMT Super Snap track is very compatible with other tubular track. RMT also has a track connector set available for this purpose.

RMT track sale ends Thursday September 13th at 10PM so I would suggest taking advantage of the sale now.

ARISTO track is G-gauge, RMT track is 0 gauge. Please do not confuse RMT and ARISTO.

RMT's Super Snap Track is for 0 gauge. To use just ARISTO may imply G gauge and I would not want any confusion. RMT, Ready Made Trains or RMT by AristO all imply 0 gauge 3-rail items.

Thanks.

Walter

Thank you for your promt reply.  the sale prices on your track are very reasonable and screming at me to place a large order for my upcomming layout.  however the list prices arn't jumping out at me. is there an in between normal price?

For example, 40" straight track sale is 6.67 / section = very reasonable and I may buy a few hundred feet of it

40" straight section list is 26.67 / section = not happening

I am in business my self, and understand you HAVE to make MONEY. but the sale prices compared to list are more of a close-out percentage than a "regular" sale. This is sorta my hang up on ordering "Just cause its on sale" and having to pay big bucks for the switches in october. So i guess to get more to the point, which end of the spectrum are the switches going to be in line with?

Also please dont feel that I am "bashing" RMT, thats not at all my intent here. although I dont own any RMT products, (You have a nice line  that gets good reviews, and I intend to buy RMT products in the near future even if i dont go with your track at this time). I hope you understand where my concerns are here.

Something I think would add a lot to the Super Snap line would be an intermediate switch between 0-31 and 0-72. I am putting together a layout now using regular tubular track. I'm doing three main lines, 0-72, 0-63, and 0-42, and I did some scrambling to find some  K-Line 0-42 switches for my inner loop. I wanted a loop that would run postwar plus some larger items, and 0-31 wasn't going to do the job for me. 0-72 switches would have taken up way too much room. I think a lot of 0-gaugers are in a similar situation, wanting to escape the restrictions of 0-31 but not having enough room for 0-72. Of course there's always Ross - but I think Walter would be well advised to add an 0-42 or 0-54 switch to the Super Snap line.

Ryan Ward... If a 10 inch straight is $6.67, then a 40 inch piece is certainly correctly priced at $26.67 as it is 4 times the length of a 10 inch piece. The tradeof is in less connectors for 4x 10 inch pieces versus extra packaging required for a box of 40 inch pieces.

Regarding RMT pricing on track...I simply want more train people to be able to expand or replace their trackage on current layouts. I may be president of RMT but I am also a 'train guy'. The current prices are not a close out - RMT is a growing company and there are many items that still are on production schedule.

Regarding the price of switches, as mentioned in an earlier reply, I do not have a confirmed ship date yet. The MSRP price and any sale price of switches will be similar to track prices.

RMT no longer accepts backorders unless the item is arriving within 30 days. Again as a train guy, I too do not like long backorder delays and I would think an RMT customer can understand this.

When the current inventory of track is depleted (and it is REALLY selling these past few days), there will not be a re-supply until at least mid-2013.

Please understand that this reply is online because you do not show any email address in your OGR profile.

Southwest Hiawatha...yes different switches will be made in future, however I would like to get the 0-31 and 0-72 versions here first.

Thanks.

Thanks.  I'm waiting for the reappearance of steamer 333, too.

I believe the market will reward you. Medium-radius switches are something that I think a lot of people will want. I assume you also intend to reproduce the full range of curves that K-Line produced, which will also be welcome.

mustang...Shipping shown on RMT order form is STANDARD UPS Ground. RMT/ARISTO gets a better rate but RMT cannot show on the website. In addition, RMT will use, at our option, Fedex Ground if this is cheaper.

Your actual shipping charge is less than what is shown in 99.9% of the time.

Ask any of RMT's customers.

Track sale is still valid. You should really place the order.

Thanks.

Love SuperSnap.  I have about 400 pieces of the stuff I bought when it was still K-Line way back in the day.  Not using it right now, but am designing a layout for it.

It is easy to cut.  It is very smooth and quiet.   The switches are great.

I like that you can use regular "O" pins when doing custom cutting or to shore up a loose connection.  It matches right up to regular Lionel "O" track.

As my new design progresses, I'll probably be looking to RMT for more.

Wish I'd known that before. I started to order a couple of packs of seated passengers when those were on sale last month and decided not to when I saw the shipping charge on the online order form. I just checked the invoice for my last order from RMT and, sure enough, the actual amount charged for shipping was several dollars less than what was shown on the initial order. Live and learn. Anyway, thanks for pointing this out - I'll know next time.

It was a pleasant surprise for me, too.  I do think it would be a good idea to note this on the RMT website, as I have more than once canceled an order from an online merchant because of what I considered "high" shipping charges.

I have some of this track from the K-Line era and it is really nice.   I'm glad that RMT is picking up its production.  Snap Track's only "weak" spot, as far as I can see, however, is the long-term durability of the rather thin plastic locking "loops" at each end.  I have had some break despite properly handling.  Be careful with them, but enjoy!

Today, I received my box of 072 curved track.  I was pleasantly surprised to have Fedex drop the package off this afternoon, as I had just ordered the product on 9/13 at 1850 hrs.  Thats an exceptional short delivery time to the State of Maine.  The shipping charge was about 4 dollars less than what was quoted on the web site.

Mr. Matuch's shipping department could give packing lessons to some of the major dealers.  I have had high end Lionel engines shipped to me in Lionel's original shipping carton.  Not a lot of protection from sometimes rough handling.  The sealed factory track box was place in a larger shipping carton with plenty of protective peanuts .  Kudos to the RMT shipping department.

As a side note, my wife and  I  met Mr. Matuch at the April 2012 York meet.  He is very much a gentleman and a good person to do business with.

Yes.  Packing is of superb quality.  I would certainly write a testimonial to such effect if RMT provides a place on the website.

Very favorably impressed with RMT.  Easy to order via website.  Shipping cost was several dollars less than estimated.  Track arrived one day after confirmation email.  Packing was top-notch in heavy cardboard with plenty of "peanuts" and very securely sealed.  If only thousand-dollar locos were packed as well by certain major manufacturers!

Wondered if you considered making SuperSnap for Standard Gauge.  I think it would be far better than the options currently available.

I doubt it would be a viable business proposition. The market is small, and tooling costs would be substantial. Traditionalists will stick with regular tubular (preferably USA Track and Ross switches rather than the Chinese junk now being imported by MTH) and those who want something more modern or realistic will go with Gargraves or the new MTH Standard Gauge Realtrax. Standard Gauge is a niche market in the first place and I don't see any room for a fourth or fifth track option.
