For an inexpensive option for roadbed: Dollar Tree sells welcome mat c. 15" x 24" for, of course, one dollar The reverse side is plain black. I make 6 slices with my hobby knife and end up with 12' of roadbed. Thin enough to put a track screw through, but I don't find that necessary.
