I am assembling an IC mail train (something along the lines of the Land O' Corn or the Seminole) consist build around five Weaver IC express mail/baggage cars, 2 GGD Harriman RPOs, and 2 MTH smooth side IC baggage cars, and would like to add some IC Madison passenger cars.  I have some MTH Madison shells and K Line baggage cars that I would like to have repainted in the IC paint scheme shown on the Rockford O Scalers IC trains.  Who would I contact for information concerning the IC cars?

Hi Martin,

The Illinois Central Historical Society and the Illinois Central Railroad Heritage Association are two organizations that help keep the history of the the Illinois Central Railroad available for those who have an interest. A Google search will get you started on how to contact them.

Also, various diagram books of IC passenger equipment have been published in the past and would help you understand what types of cars the railroad used on their trains.  Other books, such as those published by Morning Sun and Four Ways West, are helpful because they have great photos of IC passenger trains and operations.

Over the years, the Rockford O Scalers have assembled a large library that we use for modeling purposes, so if you are ever in our area, we can help you, as well.

Finally, my email address is: fsm1019@aol.com, if you have specific questions that I might be able to help with.

Regards,

Frank McCabe
