Ross Switches Non-Derailing wiring Question

When I looked up the diagram for the DZ-1000 and AUI, it is exactly how I have always wired my switches, but when I looked at the diagram that shows the wiring diagram form the DZ-1000 non-derailing function it shows the ground wire that goes from the AIU "IN" to the terminal block "Common" also is wired to the outside rail of the track.  I do not have this wired up.

The track power source common  (i.e. outside rail) and the DZ-1000 power source must have the same common  otherwise the non-derailing feature will not work.   The wire shown going from the AIU "IN" to the outside track rail is showing this connection.   You may already have this connection elsewhere in your layout wiring,

Thank you guys for responding.  I currently have a separate terminal block which is wired to the 14v port on a Z4000 transformer.  The common wire goes from the AUI IN to the ground (Black) portion of the terminal block.    The track power is wired separately through the left or right ports of the Z4000.

Should I remove the wire from the terminal block and connect it to the corresponding track power terminal block that powers that block of track?

The 14 V common and the track common need to be connected.

Thank you, but I'm still a little confused.

Do I disconnect the wire coming from the AIU and connect it to the common running to the track?  and if this is the case, should I connect it to the terminal block, since it is the closest, in proximity, to the AIU?

Think of common ground throughout the entire layout meaning all grounds are connected together. I’m not familiar with DCS wiring and don’t know if common ground is utilized through an AIU. A DCS user will be able to answer your question. Keep us posted.

I figured it out!  I ran a jumper wire between the common on the switch terminal block and the track terminal block.  I used the corresponding common that was running from the AIU and the common for that specific block of track.  I tested it and it works.
