If you run TMCC/Legacy, the AMC allowed us to control the TT from the remote using the big red knob.
This is a DPDT switch and a small potentiometer used with a Diamond Scale Turntable.
Controls a small 12 volt DC drive motor. Switch is Momentary (Clockwise), Off center, Momentary (Counter Clockwise). Track alignment is done by sight.

I do run Legacy - does the red knob control speed of rotation? The only TMCC/Legacy rotation accessory I'm familiar with is a crane car. On this the knob rotates the unit a set amount with each turn and then stops, so you have to keep turning the knob until you get to your stop point.
I'm looking for something to hook up to my Dallee indexer, which senses pre-set stop points. After getting the TT rotating, I hold the switch "on" to pass unwanted tracks until the track before my designated stop point is passed and the indexer then stops at the desired track. This means the TT either runs fast and stops abruptly or rotates too slowly.
I'd like to arrange things so that the TT will rotate medium fast until before my chosen stop, then when I am,say, 2 tracks away, I reduce speed until I pass the track before my stop, switch "off" and let the indexer stop the TT at the chosen track. I could achieve this with a pot. and DPDT switch but I'd like to see if I can do it with a single switch/rheostat so that the knob moves in the same "sense" as the turntable.

Having the indexer in the mix would complicate things. I wonder if just slowing it down enough to allow the control you have do the job without changing speeds?
I use an older Digital Dynamics TMCC motor driver to run one of mine. Runs basically like your running an engine from Cab 1. Just use the red knob to control the speed and the direction button. Seeing that your Dallee indexer stops the bridge in the desire spot You just have to have it barely moving when you get near the dialed up track. You address the turntable from Cab I using an engine ID no. Set the bridge in motion so that it is just creeping and simply press an hold the boost button. You could set the max speed from your Cab 1. Simply let off the boost button just before you reach your desired track and it should revert back to just creeping along and stop at the correct track. You should be able to pick up an older Digital Dynamics or TA Studios board at a reasonable price as many older locks have been upgraded to cruise control.
