Over on a thread running about Marx tooling, somebody asked about GE 70 ton industrial diesels, specifically about the

Marx version.  I have in front of me a RY flyer on GE 70T engines, emphatically identified as two rail.  On the reverse of

that flyer are offered ventilated box cars (these in brass and quoted as $425 up),  However, no price is cited for the 70T's.

I seem to think that RY once offered something in three rail, possible brass cars, but not sure?

Despite being fantastic models, they did not sell well and had to sell off the remaining inventory he had at a loss.  AFAIK, he has no plans to ever offer anything in 3R again.

Thanks. I thought it might have been that 44 Tonner. Rich told me face to face, that he will not make anything in 3-Rail again, as he simply can't sell enough to even cove his costs. How many 3-Rail 027 Train folks are REALLY inclined to purchase a $425 to $495 limited production box car, that isn't set-up with Hi-Rail wheels?

Well, it would seem more than a few that I know have more than a passing sampling of both Kohs and Yoder freight cars (a few have a nice set of Overland specialty cars that they run...), and last I checked, Rich has no trouble selling out of freight cars.  Given that there's an Overland Poultry Palace car just about to break $400 and will probably end a good bit higher on eBay, I'd say that there's an adequate number to support a business.

Seems to me that 3-RS folks are getting far more demanding than their 2-rail counterparts.

But could not bring themselves to buy a 44 ton diesel.........

Not buying your premise here at all.

Yes, I should have remembered the 44 tonner.  I thought about buying it, but did not

want to get away from steam....since it was an actual scale one, I was sorely tempted.

Norm, somebody said RY trucks, which are available for separate sale, not cheap but

probably nice, are difficult to convert to three rail: did you replace the trucks or

just the wheel sets (I hope, I hope)?  (no question his rolling stock looks good,

and I am really sorry he did not do the trick now being done, demand reservations

and a deposit) Our loss, and odd, since I have seen other posts clamoring for a scale 44T.  Not that I'd be putting together a train of $400 brass cars, but

every now and then he has a unique and appealing one.  This flyer shows ACL

and C&O watermelon cars....ACL, sure, but C&O?  Prototype photos are there.

I don't pay any attention to electronics so don't understand it, except beyond my

hoping it doesn't foul up my running conventionally, and so haven't even read about

it closely in the HO mag I also get.  But don't many HO locos come with a plug, where you can put in electronics from several sources, and it is all compatible?  The O

stuff sounds like you need to be a "build your own computer" type, to be able to upgrade and keep stuff running.  Too bad that universal compatibility did not exist for Yoder.  Curiously, has anybody swapped Lionel electronics into an MTH loco, so

you had one system and could run all your roster on that one, or the reverse?  Is

there some change-in board to do that?
