I have never tried running my TMCC engines with my WIU. It looks to me that a 9 pin splitter must be used to connect the TMCC base, TIU and WIU together. Is this correct or will it cause signal headache? Is there a special spitter that’s is designed specifically for this from MTH? Or should I even attempt?

A!HOBO,

You just need a serial "Y" cable, 9 pins with 2 female ports and 1 male port. I run TMCC and Legacy engines with a Rev 13 TIU and Rev L TIU with no issues. I have both the Cab 1L base as well as the Cab 2 and have no issues. You need to ensure you have the 50-1032 6' TMCC/TIU cable. You also need to purchase Barry Broskowitz DCS WIFI Comapnion 2nd edition, It may sound stupid but Barry's book has saved me many headaches. E-mail me if you have any questions, I'll be glad to help out where i can.

The splitter cable you need is this one from Amazon.

I am having a issue to get a Atlas TMCC to be add to the engine list using Wi-Fi set up. I’ll try to explain the way things are wired. Maybe I am way off here.

Coming out of a older TIU I have the 9 pin Y cable that Barry suggest. The WIU is in one leg, the TMCC base is in the other leg of the Y using MTH CABLE 50-1032. The TMCC has the single wire to the outer rail.  Now when I go to add the engine I select the TIU, put the cab number and road of the engine in the Name box. The address I am not sure what to put in, so I put the address number that’s within range. I select done. The engine comes up in the active list. Now when I go to select start nothing. The engine is setting on the track by itself. Oh yeah the lights are on when track power is applied.  Need some help here. I have Barry’s book but I am little lost here. Obviously I am doing something wrong.

The address I am not sure what to put in

There are 2 "numbers" that need to be input when you add a TMCC (or Legacy) engine to the DCS App. One is the number of the TIU to which the command base is connected. For most layouts, that would be TIU #1 so the input is a "1" (no quotes).

The second number is the TMCC/Legacy Address of the engine. If the engine is new, that number should be "1". If it's not new, the number is whatever its was set to by the previous owner of the engine.

As far as address I have know idea what it would be. Is there a way to find out?

No, there is no way for the DCS App to tell you what is the engine's actuations;address because there's no way for the TMCC engine to tell the address to the DCS App..

However, you can change the engine's address to any address that you choose. Do so as follows:

  • Navigate to the engine's Engine Settings Screen.
  • Tap Edit Engine Address and follow instructions to change the engine's TMCC address.
