Anyone familiar with this type of MTH Passenger Car Truck?  The coupler release sags and shorts out the track.  Spring is not retracting it because it sticks.  Worked it back and forth, but still not smoothly retracting from the spring like the other truck.  Pretty new.  Didn't want to disassemble it because it seems pretty flimsy.  Retracting spring is under the lever behind the coupler.  This type of lever is activated by pulling BACK on the lever instead of pushing it down.

Right now there is a piece if electrical tape over it which temporarily solves the problem.

Thanks,

John

I love that generation of the MTH and Lionel coupler release when they work well but have seen that kind of failure on one or two eBay purchases. I took one apart once thinking "how hard can it be to fix?" Very hard. At least for me anyway. My solution has been to hunt through the "junkyard" until I find a matching size truck and swap out the bad one. Otherwise if you don't like the tape, just bond it with the right adhesive.
