Yes, the single motored version from the late 50's. I can't recall the number, but I know the single motored engines started with "22" instead of "23".

Lionel's postwar F3s and the reproductions out there can run on O-27 track fine. However, they were noted for having clearance problems on the older postwar O-27 1122 switch machine housings, resulting in the fuel tanks scraping against the housings that resulted in the paint on the tanks getting scraped/smudged, so a redesign of those switches were made to address that problem and are known as 1122(e)s.
So if you have any of those early 1122 switches you may want to take all that into consideration.
Forgot to add that in addition to the postwar F3 and it's clones, MTH also has a RailKing/Rugged Rails F3 that also runs on O-27 track; this particular one is shorter in length to the postwar and scale O gauge F3s and commonly is found in starter sets.
yes the single motored 2243 a/b was designed to run on 027 track
I was in my LHS and the PW F3's I saw were really big. didn't think they would run on O27. Thanks for the heads up.

I've got Lionel's Conventional Classic SF F3s and not only will they do 027, but they'll do the S curve on back to back 1122 switches. And they've got the dual Pullmors and magnetraction. Nice

As long as your talking post war yes the single motor was made for 027.
However I ran my twin motor NYCs on 027 by cutting off the corner of the switch boxes.

They do Greg. I have the 2245 Texas Special F3 from 1954, same size as the Santa Fe and it came in a set with 027 track. That's the only track I ran it on when I was a kid. But they will rub near the tanks on PW 027 switch housings.

If you don't have any 027 switches on your layout the twin motored F3s will run just fine. Years ago I had an 027 layout without switches and ran mine all the time without a problem.
goods news, thanks for all the replies.
