I figure I'll save lots of time and ask this question here. I am gluing plastic stone sheet to a wood backing, and then gluing basswood to it to create a pier. Recommendations on what type of glue to use? I hope to avoid it delaminating over time....

When I built my ore boat, I used Loctite 200 spray contact adhesive. I was laminating 0.020" plastic sheet over poplar boards. Boat is 8 feet long, has hull comprised of 2 pieces of styrene attached end to end, no delamination over a nearly a years and a half's time.
Dave - how thick is the wood backing?
If it is thin say about 1/8 inch and you use spray contact adhesive (which works perfectly well) it is good practice to glue the plastic on the wood such that the wood grain runs perpendicular to the pier posts (glue posts cross grain) or when the contact cement fully cures the wood may warp cross grain. Glue the pier posts on as soon as practicable.
Below is plastic on plastic with contact adhesive but it shows what could happen without proper bracing

Thanks Bill and Joe.
I've attached a photo. The plastic stone sheet attaches to a 1/2" mdf backing and then basswood on top of that. So sounds like Loctite 200 spray contact adhesive for the plastic to mdf, and then maybe CA (crazy glue) to attach each basswood vertical? I read CA for the basswood in the Kalmbach book Building City Scenery

MDF has no grain so you are good to go. CA is good for plastic to wood but first scratch the paint off the plastic where you want to glue the wood
