I know when I am looking for "stuff" I should FIRST go to the Scenery Source List before I post a thread asking for something that is listed in the List... but the List is way too big and not really organized for a quick look through!

I really really appreciate the List and the work that goes into maintaining it. Yes there are some topical headings but I find that I need to search through the entire list to find anything. A real headache.

There are suppliers that are cross-listed because they supply various things that fit the bill on various topics. I know, but after re-reading each one my head blows up!

What is needed is some sort of simple matrix where the basic items are arranged and suppliers are listed; like for example: Terra-forming and structures; then a sub-listing under each that breaks down FOR Terra-forming to :

TERRA-FORMING

a) subsurface materials

b) surface materials

  (1) grass

  (2 )trees

  (3) roadways

       (i) traffic signals

       (ii) street lights

       (iii) road bridges

WORK in PROGRESS..

While I agree, the Sourcelist may be too long, I won't be defining it further. It is supposed to be a guide not a catalog. I will appreciate it if any of the websites are in error or are no longer in business, eg; Elfin models...gone. but I even have difficulty getting this info. Thanks to all who have been supportive, as this endeavor is a volunteer position.

I completely understand your position.

I am in the process of re-arranging all the "STUFF" I have in somewhat orderly places so I can FIND what I have in the way of structures, scenery, electronics, books,  kits, monorails, etc. as I work on the layout.

Each of these topics have sub classifications that breakdown the materials in a way that more easily allows me to know where it is and when not to re-purchase new stuff that I already possess.

Thus , I have an idea how to present your Source list in a more useable way. Like breaking down all the roadway stuff into component parts. For the Source list I would add the suppliers as well.

Dave....just taking this opportunity to thank you for the research you have done to supply all of us the resource list.  I can't tell you the number of times I have used it.  Most of the listings I would not have ever known about without the foundation you have supplied.  I just want you to know that I appreciate the time and effort you put into the resource list.

Thanks,

Alan

Dave,

I really appreciate the work you do on the list.  I think the list is extremely complimentary to the forum itself.  The forum provides tons of ideas and advice and your list helps feed those ideas with sourcing info.  It just seems like a perfect fit and it has helped me a number of times.

Thanks for doing this for us.

Ed
