Pictures will some later in the week (still getting used to the new forum software, and it's finals week), but hopefully things will be warm enough in my neck of the wood that I can get a few pictures of what I've been working on recently.

Anyhow, on to the topic at hand:

I've been working on various small projects on the layout during my breaks, in an attempt to get as much done as I can and improve my modeling skills. I have nearly completed the far set of hills on the layout, having sanded the foam down, and painted them with a mixture of plaster of paris and Woodland Scenics paint. All that remains is to add some grass, and maybe some trees! The hills form part of a dry river bed at the far end of the layout.

In the same vicinity, I am working on finishing a pair of oil tanks, made out of heavy duty cardboard tubes we put together years ago. I painted the base grey, also with a mix of plaster and grey paint, hopefully this will give it the right color and texture. If it works, I will use it to brush up the piers on my girder bridge, which just aren't grey enough for my liking.

Other tasks to complete include finishing marking all of the final building placement on the layout, and making piles of lumber for my lumber yard.
