As summer moves along, it's always special to see things grow and produce.
Looks very nice. It shows you what you can do with tubular track to dress it Foe for a HiRail layout.

Along the New Haven line, is the abandoned Mercer Coal silos in my town. This was a few blocks from my home when I was growing up. I am in the process of trying to duplicate the silos. This is what I have done so far.
Vulcan.... thanks my skills are no where near some on this board. that girder bridge is almost 5' long! I have the gar grave rails already but hindsight forgot to get some rail spikes. another classic senior moment LOL.
boin 106... those vehicles bring back fond memories not to mention you knew who made what car back then!
DMASSO.... nice silo are you going to weather it as the real one or less weathering effect?
SIRT... i have seen your work past year amazing they look so realistic. ever thought how you could add dent detail grab rail would be easy body a challenge.

Guess I could do some again. These were done several years ago now. Weathering album #1. Up to album 16 now.
Thanks for the reminder.
Don,
Great job on the cement silos.

Thanks $oo Line, SIRT and Al. I know the silos are concrete but when I was a kid, they were white. I am thinking of painting it white and then try some dusting on it. Just not sure as I have never made anything like this.

$OO, REALLY, need some infor on the Bridge, where did the Girder work
come from , made ? all 1 piece? sure would like some top pics, and, are the
girder ties, same idea, made , 1 piece or ??
thanks
TGP.... yes both girders are each a separate piece of wood in length here are some more pictures for you. this is a home made bridge made from composite wood or medium density wood cannot remember correct name I used 1"x 4"x 6' material. the main side girder is 1 7\8" high and the middle insert is 1 5\16" x 1"thick the entire width of girder bridge is 2 1\8" same as gragraves or ross track. I notched out the girders so the middle piece spans the 2 girders so when assembled it is 2 1\8" total width. the wood I used for railings and ties are balsa wood I used 1\4"x 1\4" for the rail ties the wood walkway I actually used wood siding as it is prescored and you can split it on the score very easily. the uprights and top and side railings used 1\32" x 3\16" it looks good to me!
once you have the main girder bridge constructed lay track on top and screw it down then loosen screws so you can lift the tracks up slightly when gluing the rail ties you have made. note not all rail ties are same length I used every second track space and those ties are cut longer to support the walkway those are 1\4"x4 11\16" long.
hope this isn't to confusing a building instruction writer I am not. as a benefit there is a 11\16" open area under tracks where you can hide the track power wires if it happens to be a lift out bridge.
