I am in the final stages of my first scratch built structure. It is a switch tower modeled after the former Niles Tower in Fremont, CA.

I used a plastic core covered with basswood siding. The stairs and windows are also scratch built. The roof is construction paper to simulate shingles.

The next step would be to add a few more details and do some light weathering. Then it is ready to be installed on the layout.

Comments welcome.

Very nice work...are you out here in CA...the short line from Pleasanton Niles is what I am modeling for my G scale layout in my back yard...scratch building the Pleasanton, Sunol and Niles stations from photos and occasional site visits...I will try and add this tower as well...
