New Guy Here

I need help at this stage of layout construction

How are you guys sealing the seams between pink foam boards? I am about to lay 1 inch foam

on the top of 1/2 plywood. This will be carved to have some contour.  Layout is 159 x 200 inches

Unfortunately I didnt plan on the seams between the sheets. I plan to paint in brown laytex but think the seams might be visible.

What have others done

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

I used caulk on my seams, as long as the gap isn't too large this works well. Im not sure how detailed you are making your layout but secenry materials i.e. ground foam, grasses weeds etc make seams disaapear quickly. I actually painted the foam right before I would scenic an area that way the material could stick to the wet paint. The next day or so I would spray it with the white glue/water mixture to finish securing it.

I use spackling compound between the joints.  Then I paint the base coat with latex paint.  Then spray diluted colors to "stain" the rocks and finish with a dry brush of white.  Makes great looking rocks.  Or just cover the area with dirt or ground foam. Check out a guy on you tube by typing in "thebige61"  he does an entire clinic on foam.

the adhesive drywall tape is covered with fusionfiber tinted brown. This was followed by stones and deadfall pressed into fiber. Earth blend and  pasture blend from scenic express was used for green areas. The gravel road is scenic express ballast on fiber tinted brown.

Sometimes I leave a space between the foam bases. The combination of adhesive drywall tape and dry fiber with ground covers can be flexed without cracking. Makes it easy to install.
