I enjoyed reading Frank Cozzi's article " secure flatcar loads". Does anyone know what brand of US Army flatcar he used in the article? It looks like Geller or is it a Lionel. I'm thinking of making up a few military flatcar vehicle loads. Does anyone have suggestions on good US Army flatcars?

I have several Army loaded flats.
A set of MTH Shermans on Flats, 2 pairs of Jeeps per flatcar, and a pair of the Tamiya 6X6 trucks to put on a pair of flatcars (in progress, I may re-arrange to one jeep and one 6x6 per flat on a couple cars).
Those are excellent trucks by the way, and 1/48 scale!
I also added a pair of the RMT Army Missiles on depressed flats.
Now if I could just find some K-Line Heavyweight Army passenger cars...
I have 6 " Geller" flat cars with Tanks, Trucks, most of them were tied down with chains. The flat cars when loaded are pretty heavy, then, tanks are heavy.

I'm just now putting together some U.S. Army flat car loads. I started working on these last evening. My Army flat cars are Atlas O made for Public Delivery Track.
Borrowing from Gellar's idea and an ebay seller, I bought the ultra cheap 1/48 scale New Ray WWII plane kits and made wood supports. The kits are painted nicely and are about $10 each from hobby shops and ebay. I picked up four to do my four flats. It is very easy to remove the pilot/seat piece. I'm using larger flat cars so I'm two wing sections and two props on one car. Another car will have two plane bodies and four tail wings. My supports are not finished yet.
The chain that I will use was purchased on ebay here >> Oxidized Chain
I picked the oxidized chain. Each link is 2.5 x 1.5mm. It comes direct from China, but arrived quickly...one week.

Thanks for posting the eBay link for chain. That's way cheaper than you can buy it at Michael's or Micro-Mark, and probably the same stuff. I'll probably be ordering some soon.

You're welcome! It is the color I wanted and the links seem to be a good size for most loads I wish to use it on.
Here are two finished U.S. Army flats...
