I am using MTH Crossing signal flashing lights with sound. I have tried MTH train senor to activate the signal's, but it seems to have problems depending on my basement lighting. What is the best sensor that can handle exterior lighting and still activate my crossing signals? I appreciate everyone's help.

I gave up on my MTH sensors an use the Zstuff sensors. 100% improvement.
If lighting interference is the main issue, there are a couple of options:
- You may have already ruled out insulated rail triggering.
- Ultrasonic sensor/triggers. These are fairly new to the O-Gauge train world. You can read more about these here:
You might consider a totally new technology for triggering the signals.
I have a NJI crossing signal. I use sensors from Azatrax. I have Gargraves track so that’s my only experience with them. They mount up through the roadbed and aren’t noticeable. There site has a lot of good info and their products come with great instructions. www.azatrax.com

I'll second the vote for Azatrax. Specifically, I used the D2T-DS and set the sensors up for across the track detection. For less than the price of 1 ITAD, you can detect trains on 2 tracks running in either direction.
