Hi Guys, I just want to tell you all what a great job Ken did in designing my future Modular Layout.  I've been watching him put out design after different design and most of them I really liked and was very impressed with others.  I contacted him and asked him if he would be willing to design a layout based on various factors.  He had a preliminary design within a couple of days.  I immediately liked what he came up with.  A little later on, he had added to the design and we just kept going from there.  His price was very reasonable too.  I can't figure out how to put the design on the forum, maybe he will see this and he has my permission to put it on for me.  I will be able to run long passenger cars and they won't look funky going around the curves and best of all, I'll be able to run my cab forwards, the class A that I have and the new SP AC-9 that I have coming.  Best of all, the layout will be built on modules so that I will be able to take them with me in the future when we move to Flower Mound where my daughter  and upcoming grand daughter live.   All I'll need to do is find a home that will be suitable for the modules.  If not and I end up downsizing, then I'll have him design a new one for me.

Thanks Ken, you did a terrific job in designing my layout.  I highly recommend him if you are looking for someone to design you a layout.

Very nice design work. From what I can see you can have two trains running independently on two separate loops. You also have a great out and back route with a run around track for the return. Siding are strategically placed adding to your enjoyment. You can definitely have a lot of fun operating this layout. Great job Ken. Will need to send you what I have and see if you can add any more interest.

Mr Motts,

Best of luck going forward on your new modular layout.  It is no secret that Ken is the layout design wizard of the OGR Forum.  Wise move going modular, especially considering the fact that a move is in your near future.  I hope that you find a suitable home that has enough room for you to set up your layout and keep it up.

i also hope to see the Santa Fe A-B-B-A  F-units that I sold you a few years back, up and running and looking fine on those broad curves.

Happy Holidays,

Jim

Thanks very much everyone for your kind words!   I am very glad that folks appreciate my designs, that encourages me to keep thinking and designing.   There are many talented layout designers contributing to the forum, I am satisfied to be a part of this community!

I am pleased with the revision of the "Ideal Layout", and appreciate that Allan was able to publish my O gauge version of the G&D.   Both of those layout have "standout" features that I am pleased to share.

I just did a search for Ken Hoganson and found this thread.. I was catching up on my reading and found his article: Re-imagining the "Ideal Layout" in Run 306.. Wow is all I can say!! We need to talk!!  Ken, if you're reading this, would you email me?? My email is in my profile!! I want to know more!!

Thanks Woodson, and am overloaded with work issues right now.  But... are you interested in a version of the Ideal Layout?  Or something else?

The version of the "Ideal Layout" from Run 306, with a few changes: room size, door opening, Gargraves track and Ross turnouts and some accessories that I've accumulated.. I'm a 'builder', not a designer, nor am I good with track planning software.. I can make minor adjustments as I go, but I have learned the hard way that it's much easier building a layout with a master plan in place.. When I saw your design I said that's what I'm looking for, with the aforementioned minor changes!!!

Ken is great with his designs.  It use to be when I visited the forum I would check the for sale spot first,  not anymore,  I look to see if Ken has any new designs.  I may have to contact him about our layout,  I am not happy with my design and getting frustrated.  JEM, your new layout looks great.  Nick
