Show Us Your Display Shelves!

I 2nd wanting to know more about these military cars.  Mostly about this biggie in the bottom.  My 9 yr old son would just die to get one.

 

As for me, I don't have displays yet.  I still need to move into the house I just bought, but it has a back room that will be the train layout/computer room.

Many years ago I said I would never have trains on shelves. Boy was I wrong.

Shelves for idle passenger equipment.

Yesterday I finished grouping my Marx & Sakai 3/16 scale on the shelves, also added a bit to the wall of Hafner.

The Little Showcase Factory website does show O gauge wall cases.  Open up their "Store" on their homepage and go to the second page.  They have two different sizes listed for O gauge.  The cases (8 cases in poplar) that I have are 56"L x 27"H x 4"D, which they no longer show.  Rather they now have 68"L X 33"H and 44"L X 27"H.  Also, the doors are not glass, but are a clear acrylic.  I got the cases to keep my modern engines fairly dust free, with all of their electronics.  I don't worry about the prewar and postwar engines.  They relatively easy to maintain.

 

Installation is very simple.  They are pre-holed for mounting and brass screws are included.  I would guess that with measuring many times and checking the level many times, it probably took me 15-30 minutes/case.

 

I am very pleased with the cases, and if you are ordering several, be patient.  But, it is worth the wait.

The cabinet lights are two 12"accent lighting tubes above each shelf.I bought them at Menards way back.I wonder if they even sell them anymore,I bet LEDs are taking over for accent lighting.

WOW!  You folks are over the top with your collections and absolutely stunning displays.  I sure hope you folks have good security systems and separate insurance policies..  Any good hacker can get your address and...........well just imagine where that could lead.  I'd never post pics of my collection but that's just me.

Really, you mean somebody would be dumb enough to a steal a train collection?

How would you sell any of it without getting caught? Especially since its been documented in pictures. Who in their right mind would buy it?

Wbg pete, what is the paint color of the facia on your layout. I assume it is thin masonite screwed or nail to the edge of the bench work. I want that look when I build my layout. Also wasn't you layout featured in one of the magazines if I recall?

here is my newest shelving unit where I would like to display on staggered Plexiglas shelves 2-1/2" wide by 38" The issue with staggered shelves is as you go more than 2 deep you cannot place pieces in the third row back.

Yes, the layout was featured in CTT; May 2011 issue, also two pages in November 2011 issue.  Fascia is 1/8" Masonite covered with custom mix of cheap flat latex.  Sorry, don't have mixture ratio.  I used a hand mixed sample for Lowe's to color match.
