I have recently purchased a group of Woodland Scenics buildings and unlike Lionel and MTH they don't come with sidewalks. I don't want to make plaster sidewalks so what alternatives do I have. I thought of concrete colored poster board over foam board. Are there any better alternatives?

OGR sells bundles of sidewalks, and I use them and like them very much. I trim the occasional unwanted bit off; then, I paint them concrete color; let them dry well, and then weather them according to the scene.duo + construction lot1xa1_edited-1b2_edited-2IMG_0438_edited-1IMG_1621_edited-1IMG_5159

They are sturdy and do not warp, even lending themselves well to having an edge filed-down to allow for modeling a driveway entrance, or to being reduced in length by hacksawing through them to achieve a desired abbreviated custom-length (observable in the fire-station scene just above, here, and in "The Quilting Circle" more rural vignette, above.

My walks are also the base for buildings, some panels are 10” deep. ¼ Lauan covered with spackle. Lines & cracks are penciled in and painted FolkArt LINEN color for concrete. Run your finger over the pencil markings to highlight a stone textured concrete surface from the spackle.

Always think backwards, walks or terrain actually define the streets!

OGR's Ameri-Towne series also includes "Stone Wall" pieces embossed with a random stone design. These pieces could be used as laid stone sidewalk segments placed in an older section of town to provide a Colonial or Victorian ambiance or in a new upscale subdivision with laid stone sidewalks. Paint the "sidewalks" a flagstone color and accent the cracks with a wash of diluted black paint wiped away from the raised stone surfaces. Presto!

What are the origins of these buildings?  Can't seem to find them on your website.  You can e-mail me a reply if you wish

Thanks

 Nice modeling, by the way!

Hi John, Thanks for visiting my website (not updated for some time, however). My website is not intended as a store. Nothing seen there is available for purchase, having long been spoken for. What one sees there are examples of what I have done for sale @ TCA Meets @York, PA, as well as for clients privately . Also, I do not repeat a single vignette, ever. Everything is a one-time-only item and were available solely on a first-come-first-served basis, all along,  since my inception of Layout Refinements in 2005.

I will share with you my source, from several years ago, for the fronts for those brownstone townhouses, which was Valley Model Trains website; the rest of the buildings were cobbled from a wide variety of sources, as were the many details used to complete the edifices as scenes.

"OGR sells bundles of sidewalks" - where or how can I order the sidewalks?

Thanks

I used to call their office in OHIO directly to place my orders, from time to time. If I wanted to buy more, nowadays, that is what I would try first.

OR.....you can go to our online store.....either way we appreciate your business!
