I have Atlas 3-rail track on my layout and I want to wire the RailKing Crossing signal with sound (separate speaker) so that I can simply push a button (or allow a 7 year old to do it) so that the lights flash and the sound unit works.  I don't want to use an infrared detector so, is there a simple way to accomplish this? How do the wires get connected to the power pack (in this case, an MTH Z1000).

Thank you.

Thank You!! Your diagram makes more sense to me than the instructions from MTH did.  Could I use an older American Flyer push button unit  that has the two contacts underneath?  Ok, now that I have that, what about if I have an ITAD device, How does that work?

Awhile ago, I had purchased the MTH RailKing crossing set (flashers and gates but no sound) and the infrared device but the instructions were not clear. Could you show me a diagram for the crossing lights with gates?  I am not trying to to get this done for Christmas day, but I would like to get it working. I'll use the sound unit set on my O gauge layout and the crossing gates/flashers on my S gauge set-up.
