Size question:

Lionel 40' scale stock car vs. Atlas Trainman 40' scale stock car.

The Lionel is considerably smaller in stature while the Trainman is much taller. It's probably the same size as a standard PS-1 boxcar.

Both are marked as depicting a car built in 1950.

Any idea as to which is depicting the correct size?

Thanks,
Mike

I'm no authority on either stock cars or scale fidelity of Lionel cars, but I have seen

in prototype photos stock cars of varying lengths and heights.  While I don't KNOW that the Lionel car is undersized, such is not unheard of in the tinplate world, and much else made by Lionel is not scale.   I am sure that across Lionel's various series of stock cars, they vary in size and some are larger and probably scale.
