New to this forum. Thanks for having me. I’m thinking about adding a 1655 engine and tender or perhaps even the whole Lionel 1423W freight set. But I would want to convert the 1655 from the slide pickup to roller pickup. Does anyone know the parts and part numbers I need to do this slide to roller pickup conversion? Or, is there a complete shoe assembly from another model engine that I could buy that already has roller pickups that would fit the 1655? Thanks in advance.

A pick-up assembly from a 1656 0-4-0 will fit, or a prewar 229 2-4-2.
Chuck, is the 229-6 roller and bracket assembly a direct replacement for the 1661-33 contact shoe or does the entire contact assembly have to be changed?

The 229-6 roller and bracket have a longer arm than the sliding shoe. You can use the original plastic housing, but you will need to change the spring to compensate for the longer arm. Thanks for the kudo's Pingman, I have the complete assembly.

I appreciate the help. Please excuse my ignorance as I’m new here, but how do I purchase parts from you? Do you have a website? I’d like to purchase the two 229-6 and springs (and anything else that I need?) for this 1655 slide to roller pickup conversion from you. Also, unrelated to this slide to roller conversion, I need to purchase a 1654-2 drawbar for a family member’s 1655 if you have one.
