I normally fill our smoke units after running (once they are cooled down.) If a loco sits for a few weeks or a month, will the existing fluid still be adequate or does it start to evaporate and need additional fluid before running?
I've had the best luck by putting in 5-8 drops at the end of each operating session and then 5-10 drops before the next session. I put more drops in if the interval is long and less if it is overnight or a few days. If it's a few months between intervals, I'll put in 15 drops as if it were a first time use. I just try to make sure the smoke unit has no chance of running dry.
