I have a Lionel Burning Hobo Depot. Unfortunately the smoke unit is not working and in talking with the Train Tender it is not a part he carries. Also in checking on the Lionel Parts Web site it is listed as unavailable. Does anyone have access to this part or have a work around for it.
It is part number CR-HSW-3. I have include a photo.

Possibly try a new resistor.
Looks a lot like the one I have in the burning Switch Tower.
Maybe view a breakdown on the Tower's parts on the Lionel site.

It looks like all there's in there is a resistor, you can get those pretty easily.
The resistor is a common one: 6104201310 SMOKE RESISTOR / 50 ohm 3 watt
Here's a suitable replacement, Ohmite 53J50RE. When I use these, I use a Dremel wire brush to knock the powdered ceramic coating off, then they work just like the Lionel ones.

I can't imagine why the resistor won't work, that's all that's in that unit.
