Snags mounting Kadees on MTH loco

I've never had much luck using those same screws so I ordered some #2x1/2" sheet metal screws which work perfectly.  Holds the kadee on tight and goes in smooth. 

I have the same locomotive and the same couplers it all went together with the supplied screws. The smaller ones are for the coupler and the larger for the plow. You probably won't be able to mount the plow, the coupler trip pin is in the way.I didn't use any shims. 

If you mounted plow first take it off.

Jeff - OK, thanks for the suggestion. Will try that type of screw. 

Clem - I didn't mount the plow. Was using the four longer, thinner screws that were in the pouch along with the plow and its two screws.

The supplied screws are somewhat questionable at times. I use 2mmx8mm machine screws and they work great. The regular Kadee 740 will fit in the U25 and just clear the claw mount on the power truck, but the 743 is a great choice. I didn't mount the snow plows or foot boards (Santa Fe took them off as a safety hazard). The basic snow plow sits a little too far out for my tastes.

Matt - Thanks for that info. I'll get some of both types of screws. I bought 745s as well as the 743s, so I could go that route. It's an N&W locomotive - it SEEMS like something I saw on former NKP tracks in Muncie when I was growing up, but I can't lay my hands on the prints from the Instamatic camera. They're around somewhere--colors not faded away, I hope.

Matt et al - the M2x8 machine screws worked great. Thanks so much. Bought ones with socket heads and Phillips pan heads. Used the socket ones.
