Well after 11 years of being strictly a DCS user. I must say I am quite happy so far with the results I have achieved with my "borrowed" TMCC command base and cable.(thanks again to all who answered and straitened out my small problem) I have dug out 3 other TMCC engines that I own along with my Atlas switcher and everything loaded and operated quite well.I never used these engines much because I felt they ran poorly in conventional but with TMCC and a DCS remote they are quite smooth!

My question is what do the soft keys do ? I tried playing with them a little but notice no change in behavior in the locos.

They are...

AX1

AX2

SPD

MOM
REL

Any explanation would be appreciated.

Thanks

Bob,

AX1 - does exactly whatever it does when used with a Cab-1. This may vary among TMCC engines.

AX2 - does exactly whatever it does when used with a Cab-1. This may vary among TMCC engines.

SPD - switches between 32 and 128 speed steps for the TMCC engine. Use 128 for engine's with K-Line's speed control or TAS's EOB speed control.

MOM - sets a TMCC engine's momentum to light, moderate or heavy.
REL - sets the speed steps as relative rather than incremental. Relative works better with the TMCC crane car.

This and a whole lot more is all in MTH’s “The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!

I find the Soft Keys can be confusing. I keep this cheat sheet on the layout control center.

Soft Keys

SCS (sound coupler slack)

SO1 (sound one, usually 1 horn blast)

LIN (lights, interior)

Sl1 (probably a crew talk sequence)

SFS (sound, forward signal)

SRS (sound, reverse signal)

SXS (sound crossing signal)

S02 (sound two, usually crew talk)

LND (Ditch light auto or off)

STW (train wreck sound)

DOD (odometer)

DCH (chronometer)

SSU (extended start up)

SSD (extended shut down)
