I just replaced the sound rectifiers with diodes on my Lionel ZW 275 Watt Transformer. I tested the first diode after I installed it and it worked great. Then I replaced the 2nd rectifier with the other diode and now neither of them work. Is it possible I damaged the diode by testing it, when the other side still had a rectifier?

The best replacement is a stud mounted, anode to case rectifier diode. Model 1N1190AR, or 1N1186AR available online. The 1N1190AR is a 600V 40 Amp diode with a threaded 1/4”-28 stud mount.
Ironically, I actually used that site to help me make the upgrade. I figured out the problem after some research. I had to reverse the wires running from the lock-on to the transformer. Thanks for the help.
