You can start with Digikey and Mouser.  I'd post them as URL's, but I don't see that option anymore on the toolbar.

Mendelson's looks more like a pot-luck kind of place, not a place I'd first think of when shopping for a specific component.

If you have never been to Mendelsons, you are in for a treat. Sure it's a surplus type of store but The web/catalog don't even come close to what they carry. Any kind of switch, relay, diode, resistor, wire ,you name it, it's there. Along with anything else you could ever imagine. They have Pittman motors, Beuhler, cannon, and other motors that would go great for remotoring a project. Gearmotors are also included. They have a counter for finding specific items if you need help. If you ever get near Dayton, look them up.

If you ever do travel this way, make sure to see the US Airforce museum which is about 2 miles from Mendelsons and admission to the museum is free.

That would be a worthwhile stop.

BTW - That is a great Museum - we stopped there while on vacation and stayed for several hours.  Make sure to take the tour to the X-planes section (which is on the airbase and you need to take a bus there).  Next time we are there we'll stop in Mendelsons...
