I see that the people that were making the Split Jaw power connectors have retired, and I applaud them for that, and with them well.
However, I am wondering if there are any other sources of the same type of power connectors in existence.

I have read a lot of good reviews of these and of the Piko G Scale connectors used for garden layouts.
I am, of course, building an O-Gauge layout, and not a garden layout either, but purely indoors.

Please comment if you know of any other places to acquire this type of connector.

Also, please feel free to comment on your opinions of this style connector.

Thanks,
RWL

Are you thinking of using these for O gauge? There are many other options for O gauge.

My only issue with the split jaw, brass connectors for G gauge is that for LGB track, you need to cut the plastic insulation on the bottom of the track where you place the connector. For my ceiling layout, I just shoved a spade connector between the plastic and the brass rail. As far as I can tell, the split jaw connectors are still pretty available. I also have the LGB screw on power connectors that work pretty well.

Is the G Scale track the same width at the bottom of the rail, and the with the same space between the ties, such that the Piko's would fit?

The Piko ones might work, but you would need to cut the lower flange off the Ross rail. I think the O gauge split jaw clamps were made for tubular track. For Ross track, Gargraves makes a pigtail power connector that goes between track sections.

You can also just push a spade connector into the rail on the underside.

I have read a lot about using the spade connectors pressed into the bottom slot of the rail, and I like the idea a lot.

I do wonder, however, just how sound of a connection this gives, and how it lasts over time.

I have searched a lot, and have not gotten iron clad opinions on this.
Some say yes some say no.

Maybe I need to just post the question straight up.
