Springfield Big-E train Show

The show was enjoyable. Great weather. I bumped into many club members and forum members. There were a great number of module club layouts which were very nice to see. I only bought some tools and a caboose but I could have bought more but I restrained myself. I still missed a lot as my feet gave out. I missed the OGR photo shoot and went to eat at the Red Rose. I attach a bunch of photos in no particular order or interest. I did try to catch the crowds, vendors or manufacturers that are on the forum.

Great photos Don.  How was the attendance?   Looks a bit uncrowded  in some of the photos.   In years past, when I have gone it has been shoulder to shoulder in the aisle and around the displays.

I thought the crowds were large. The many parking lots were full.

Haven't seen the show that packed in years but maybe last years snowstorm had something to do with that.

I got there around 11 and it was pretty packed. Crowds seemed to die out between 3-4. This was the first time I have ever been here, or any large show, and what an experience! Lots to take in. Great to see all the products everyone talks about in person.

The good news, for 2- railers, is the possible Kadee entry in the O Scale truck business.  For decades they have produced the definitive freight trucks in HO.  Who says O Scale is dead?

I note that a Kadee HO truck is ten bucks and a G-scale truck is fifty.  I hope they can stay in range for O Scale - fifty bucks gets a pair of exquisite brass trucks from Yoder.

I did not know they made G Scale trucks - maybe that will get my 1:29 Harriman switcher off dead center.

Thank you for the great photos and your effort to share them with us. I always enjoyed the show and many people I met there, my knees no longer enjoy it so I didn't get there.

A Fun time and big crowds.

I was planning on going this weekend.  It's just a 3.5 hour drive.  Always a good time with lots to see.   But I've been sick with a bad cold since Friday.   Just resting and spending time on the forum instead.   Thanks again for the pictures and reports.

Announced attendance was 19,800+ Paid, 23,500+ total attendance over the two days.

Yes Michael its once a year so next January 2017. Worth it & tons to see and buy. I'm 2 1/2  hours away in New Hampshire and I go every year, even in last years snow storm.

I am from Long Island, NY it take about 3 hours but it looks worth it!

For my first big show, it was great! My soon to be father in law and I came down from NH and spent to night locally so we could go both days and take our time. Totally worth it in my opinion. Between the two of us, we cover everything from N-G scales ( me O & Ho and him N & G). 

You would be hard pressed to cover the whole show in one day, if you are just after O and make a plan for yourself with the vendor diagram, it is definitely doable in just one day. 

If Kadee does enter the O scale market I think pricing would be comparable to MTH and Atlas for 2 rail metal trucks.JMO

I think that your 2nd sentence is the critical point.  While I myself have little use for almost any other style of truck, that's due to my choice of modeling era.  Plenty of archbars available... I doubt that they will be making any of the funkier pre-1920's trucks due to a limited market.  More modern trucks seem to be lacking in availability.

Curious to see if this comes to fruition and what they may offer.

Check out theirHO offerings, and compare them to any other supplier in that scale. I doubt they will hold them to $15 per, because of the limited market.
