Glad you got back a Golden Gate tower. With a couple of big tower kits, l decided a short line would use a smaller tower and bashed one, leaving kits in boxes.
Nothing spells Steam Era better than a Turntable and Roundhouse. The steam engines can not live without them. Below are my 40 year old, homemade $10 Turntable and Roundhouse on my postwar 027 layout.

I could not agree with you more on the old steam era buildings. Fortunately right now there are quite a few buildings from that era that are available commercially. I am anxious to contribute some of my pieces here. Thanks a lot for fielding this idea. I don't think anything enhances those steam engines and even first generation diesels like old buildings. This will be a fun topic. Many of the guys on here have awesome stuff to display. Here is a new large type cathedral, a korber old time factory and an HRT ( Horizontal Return Tubular) Steam coal fired boiler which will have a duplicate and be in a power house building . Most steam plants had two boilers for obvious reasons.

I built this model of a coal tower from a kit by Gloor Models. It was the first large structure model that I built after I started work on my 12’-by-8’ layout in 1999. I have several other steam era structures on my two layouts that I will post after taking pictures.

With a bashed Plasticville coaling tower, leaving a couple kits like the Gloor in their boxes, l am showing a number of similarly themed single and double water towers surrounding it.

Bill Gloss really like your HRT steam coal fired boiler. Is this a kit, scratch built, etc? We would love to have one for a power house under construction.
Steam and the N & W is a primary focus of our layout. We used three Harry Heike buildings and a number of his kits along with a Dennis Brennan roundhouse in our almost completed steam service area.

Such lovely inspirational models. Glad you got a coaling tower back. Without having a photo, I've adapted an MTH water column by adding a small tank to its top for my Welsh branch line. I've also created a small elevated coaling platform where coal is transferred from a truck and held for use.
