Those pencil thin drive rods, enormous red drive wheels, inboard bearings..quite a eye fest. No diesels, running at track speed, great sounds of reciprocating steam and no banjos playing in the background. Thanks for posting this.
Definitely very nice stuff; two three cylinder German Pacifics (01 class) and a class 52,
2-10-0. Nice rainy weather for excellent exhaust vapor trails and great scenery.
Thanks for posting.
Thanks Charlie. Was never a European steam fan,but video has changed my mind,an awesome video. Beautiful engines w/ good sound. Tom
Thanks, Charlie.
Double-headed steam passing the other on a bridge at about the 3:30 mark was amazing.

then somehow the video show in your original post got mixed up...
Yup
Have no idea how that happened???
Thanks for the help
Thanks for posting this Charlie. The VSM is my local steam railway (Less than 15 minutes from my house.) and where I took the photographs that I posted here a couple of weeks ago. The first weekend in September is always a great time to visit it, as they have their annual festival weekend then, and there are many great locomotives in steam. It's lovely to wake up on a summer morning and hear the haunting tones of a steam whistle.
@ Charlie....no problem...happen to me too...the "gremlins" at work...
The title reads: 'Romantic Railroad Train in the Black Forest". Is that where this, the
"VSM" is? Haven't woke to a steam whistle since camping beside the Silverton
north of Durango, and did not encounter steam anywhere but in Wales, and not in
Germany.

Romanatic Railroad in the Black Forest, as Lafondue noted, is in Bavaria
VSM was taken in the Netherlands.
Hope you enjoyed both

The VSM is in the Netherlands. If you like to camp beside the rails, there is a campsite in the field right next door to the main depot at Beekbergen. Here is a link to their website for any who may wish to enquire further. http://www.stoomtrein.org/index.html
Thanks, Nicole, but sped up life today, and closure of that U.S. National Forest campground north of Durango, not to mention aging, has caused me to dial back on camping. The York fairgrounds got huffy about it some years ago, and an off grounds campground adopted unpredictable opening days, so gave it up there lately, too. I last camped in the Netherlands in 1976, at Schiphol (outside Amsterdam airport). More recently I have used Formula One (discount hotel that is part of Motel 6 chain in the U.S.) to run around in Europe (where I can find one, otherwise it is zimmer frei, and chambres).
